Traffic stop leads to felony arrests

Officers discovered a large amount of Methamphetamine, Suboxone, Marijuana and a quantity of cash from a vehicle during a routine traffic stop in Corning on Jan. 26. 

The car was pulled over at approximately 10:00am on East Pulteney Street in the City of Corning. 

Joseph A. McCallum, the driver of the vehicle, was taken into custody for driving with a suspended license and while in custody, he tried to hide an additional amount of methamphetamine in the rear of the patrol vehicle.

The passenger of the vehicle, Kasandra R. Oles, was also taken into custody when a quantity of illegal drugs were discovered on her person.

Members of the New York State Police in Painted Post and Steuben County Sheriff’s Office also helped the city of Corning police department during the arrest and investigation.

Oles will be facing charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and McCallum is facing a number of charges, including tampering with physical evidence, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Both individuals will be held without bail until their court dates.
