Two men face felony charges tonight after allegedly stealing and crashing a car in Corning.
According to our newspaper partner, The Leader, Michael Fassett and Christian Liller of Corning are both charged with third degree criminal possession of stolen property, a class D felony.
Authorities in Corning say the two men stole a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta from the Staybridge Suites on Townley Avenue on Sunday.
Then Monday night officers responded to a crash involving the Jetta on Route 17, leading to the arrests of Fassett and Liller.
Steuben County Undersheriff Jim Allard says they believe the crash was deer-related.
Fassett remains in the Steuben County Jail tonight on $2500 cash bail while Liller was released on his own recognizance.
Allard says this is an ongoing investigation and more charges are possible.
