He was known to many in the hockey community in Elmira. His name was Pete Frank, but he was largely know as “Flagman.”
Elmira Enforcer’s owner Robbie Nichols told 18 News that Frank’s family confirmed his passing, Sunday afternoon.
The cause of death is unknown though Nichols said Frank’s health was declining recently while in intensive care.
“Flagman” was the epitome of an Elmira hockey fan. He rooted for the hometown team since the Jackals began playing in 2000. He went on to root for the Enforcers.
Fans knew him for his red, white, and blue face paint.
Nichols said there will be a moment of silence for Frank on Friday when the Enforcers play against the Carolina Thunderbirds.
