UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR) – The idea of relocating the Woodstock 50 festival to Vernon Downs is getting support from a state official.
State Senator Joseph Griffo feels that bringing the festival back to Oneida County would be a good opportunity for the community.
Griffo was the Mayor of the City of Rome when Woodstock 99 was held at the Griffiss Airport in Rome. That festival was marred with several obstacles, including a Sunday night disturbance that resulted in the State Police, in riot gear, having to control the crowds.
The current Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, is concerned that the planned date coincides with two other major events taking place in the area the same weekend.
