Wreaths Across America takes place this Saturday and the Bath National Cemetery is joining in on the ceremony.
The international event is meant to remember, honor and teach.
At 12:00 P.M., Arlington Cemetery in addition to 1,200 additional locations in all 50 states, at sea, and abroad will lay wreaths down to remember our fallen U.S. veterans.
At the Bath VA, a shuttle will take volunteers up to the national cemetery at 11:30 A.M. to lay the wreaths on the headstones.
You are encouraged to bring your children for a humbling experience.
Almost 3,000 wreaths will be placed on headstones at the Bath VA.
“Each year we increase a little bit, so we’re hoping that someday we’ll have 15,000 wreaths to place on the headstones because we have over 15,000 veterans here at our national cemetery,” Lynn Dinehart, the volunteer and recreation manager, said.
This is the fourth year the Bath VA is participating.
The program will also be taking place at Woodlawn National Cemetery in Elmira where WETM 18 News is a sponsor.
