On Tuesday evening the 35th Annual Mark Twain Scholars Dinner was held at the Elmira College Campus Center. The first banquet was held in 1984 and was envisioned by Manny Panosian to provide public recognition to young achievers.
Each year this program honors seniors from the region’s high schools who are in the top 5% of their graduating class.
A total of 51 students from Twin Tiers Christian Academy, Elmira, Horseheads, Notre Dame, Spencer-Van Etten, Thomas A. Edison, and Waverly high schools were recognized for their academic achievement.
Through these students hard work, dedication, and success they honor not only Mr. Panosian’s vision but also the entire community.
