UPDATE 6:30 p.m: 18 News spoke with a rider who was present at the track when the fatal ATV accident occurred.
He declined to go on camera, but still shared his take on the quality and the safety of the field.
“In my experience, the track was mismanaged. It was very poorly marked, I had guys (race officials) telling me to go one way and then another guy telling me to go another way. But they didn’t seem to know where we were even supposed to go. I’ve ridden some of the best you can do and this is the worst track out of my nine years.”
18 News also reached out to the Schuyler County Sheriffs Department who also declined an on-camera interview, but did say they couldn’t comment further because the investigation is still ongoing.
