The Tioga County Sheriff’s office has made an arrest in connection to a fatal motorcycle crash in the Town of Berkshire.

On the morning of June 4, 2019, the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of an accident involving a motorcycle on East Berkshire Road in the Town of Berkshire.

When police arrived at the scene, 42 year old Carl E. Hoaglin Jr. had died from his injuries. The investigation revealed that another motorist was involved in the accident and had left the scene before police arrived.

On June 21, the Sheriff’s Office arrested 27 year old Dylin E. Abbatoy for leaving the scene of an accident without reporting, which is a class D felony. The investigation revealed Abbatoy had operated a vehicle eastbound in the westbound lane of East Berkshire Road while Carl Hoaglin was traveling westbound, causing Hoaglin to lose control of his motorcycle.

Abbatoy then left the scene and failed to report his involvement in the incident. Dylin Abbatoy was arraigned in the Town of Berkshire Court and released under the supervision of the Tioga County Probation Department. Abbatoy is due to return to the Berkshire Town Court on August 19.
