Four out of five car seats are used incorrectly. The Steuben County Manager, Jack Wheeler, spoke to 18 News about how people can check if they are using the seats properly.
“A car seat looks like a pretty easy piece of equipment,” said Wheeler. “But when you really think that it’s protecting your new-born or young child’s lives, it takes a whole other nuance.”
The county is partnered up with local governments and non-profit organizations to hold events that promote safety and car seat checks.
There are two more events being held at the Steuben County WIC Clinics from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on June 19 in Corning, N.Y.. There will also be an event on July 25 in Canisteo, N.Y.
