Authorities have identified the person killed in a fatal accident in Towanda.
According to the Towanda Police Department, 76-year-old Richard Wilcox of New Albany, was driving a 1987 Plymouth Sedan north on State Route 220 Wednesday morning when he collided with a water truck heading southbound.
Police say both vehicles sustained major damage as a result of the collision.
Wilcox was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bradford County Coroner.
Route 200 was closed Wednesday morning and didn’t reopen until 2 p.m.
The Peterbuilt truck, owned by Heckmann Water Resource Inc., was hauling brine water at the time of the collision.
Witnesses report it appeared the driver of the water truck made every attempt to avoid colliding with Wilcox.
The investigation to the cause of the crash is still ongoing.
