For twelve years, Kim Marie Lesso has been teaching local youth the art of performing for theater.
She does this all from her quaint home in Corning, New York.
Nestled on a side road located at 75 Marbelite Lane, one will discover The Corcorcan Academy of Fine Arts.
The academy is Lesso’s pride and joy.
“These people (youth) have to learn to disconnect from technology. Learn to think, feel imagine and observe,” said Lesso.
It’s all about love, creativity and respect once entering the doors of the academy.
According to long-time students Arianna Sardo and Ashely Haln, emerging from their shell wasn’t an easy feet.
“I had the talent but didn’t believe I had it, said acting student Ashley Haln. “She told me this is what I’m made to do,” added Haln.
Fellow acting mate Arianna Sardo echoed Haln’s sentiments.
“She pulled me out of my shell in the best possible way.”
And to the young actresses Lesso’s influence is profound.
“Sometimes you need a second mother,” said Lesso. “You need someone to love you like a mother will.”
“The highest priority is they are my kids. Laying your head on my pillow exhausted at the end of the day knowing maybe, just maybe the world is a little bit better because you’re in it,” added Lesso.
