Rodney Hoad from the Bradford Volunteer Fire Company stops by 18 News Today to discuss an upcoming open house at the fire station.

There has been a nationwide shortage of firefighters. There is a push to increase the number of volunteers all across New York. Several departments will be a part of Recruit N.Y.  The initiative is a state-wide recruitment drive that looks to bolster the number of volunteer firefighters throughout the state.

The Bradford Volunteer Fire Company will be hosting an open house to recruit new volunteers and show the community the services they provide.

The open house will take place April 27 and 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bradford Volunteer Fire Company located at 7603 County Rt. 20 in the town of Bradford.

The event is open to the public. Teens as young as 14 are welcome to come to train to be junior firefighters. To learn more about the Bradford Volunteer Fire Company, click here
