Canisteo Man Facing Weapons Charges After Violating Parole

Local News

A Canisteo man is facing numerous weapons charges after he was found to be in possession of a rifle and two illegal daggers.

Joseph Carter, 23, is charged with two counts of felony Criminal Possession of a Weapon and one count of misdemeanor Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

State police and Canisteo Police said they were tipped off that Carter may have illegal weapons in his possession, which violates his parole for a previous burglary conviction. Carter was sent to the Steuben County Jail on $50,000 cash bail, $100,000 property bond.

He’ll appear in the Village of Canisteo court again at a later date.
