The following is a news release from the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office.

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office announces the arrest of MICHAEL J. ROGERS, 38 years old, of 919 Johnson Hollow Road, Beaver Dams, New York, on the charge of Grand Larceny in the Second Degree, a Class C Felony.

On July 27, 2017, ROGERS wrote two personal checks, each check for $75,000.00, to Nicholas Farms located in Loganton, Pennsylvania.  Both checks were returned for insufficient funds and the owed money was never paid.

In November 2017, the Chemung County Criminal Investigation Division initiated an investigation into ROGERS issuing bad checks throughout the country involving the sale of cattle.  ROGERS was arraigned in the Catlin Town Court and remanded to the Chemung County Jail in lieu of $10,000.00 cash bail or $20,000.00 property bond. Additional charges are expected to be filed at a later date.
