Chemung and Tioga county residents now able to apply for pistol permits through state lines

Chemung and Tioga counties announced a cooperative initiative to assist residents of their respective counties to apply for non-resident pistol permits. 

As of this date, Tioga County residents who either own land in Chemung County, or are current or retired law enforcement will be eligible to apply for a New York State non-resident pistol permit at the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office. 

Chemung County residents who meet the requirement set forth by the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office will also be able to apply for non-resident Pennsylvania permits at the Tioga County (PA) Sheriff’s Office. 

Tioga County residents who wish to apply for a non-resident New York State pistol permit can pick up an application at the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:40 p.m. at $15.00. Any questions you can call the office at (607) – 737 – 2937.

Chemung County residents who wish to apply for a Pennsylvania License, to Carry Concealed, may pick up applications at Tioga County Sheriff’s Office between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, located at 118 Main Street in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania.
