Catholic Charities Thursday night held its first Community Bowl Throwing Night To End Hunger at Elmira College.
Representatives from several local businesses put their hands into the clay in this light hearted competition to create bowls for Catholic Charities Annual Bowl Luncheon.
The Director of Development for Catholic Charities of Chemung and Schuyler County, LindsayWinters said, “It’s a fun way for the community to see what goes into the event, raise some awareness about hunger in or community along with the whole concept of the empty bowl and filling the bowl for those in need.”
The bowls made Thursday night will be used at the Empty Bowls Luncheon on October 20th at the Elmira College Campus Center.
It’s the largest fundraiser for the Catholic Charities Samaritan Center and the event coincides with World Food Day.
Tickets are $35/person for lunch and a commemorative soup bowl, $280/reserved seating for eight or $20/person for lunch only (no bowl included).
