Corning man crashes stolen pick-up truck

CORNING, N.Y. (WETM) – Corning Police arrested a man Friday morning after he crashed a stolen pick-up truck, according to our media partner The Leader.

Joseph P. Heverly, 49, of Corning was driving on Park Ave. around 9:20 a.m. when he was spotted by police in a Ford F-150 truck that was allegedly stolen from East Second Street.

Heverly fled the scene before crashing the truck on River Road, flipping the truck over twice, according to Corning Police.

Heverly was transported to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre for injuries suffered during the accident. He’s scheduled to appear in the Steuben County Centralized Arraignment Court at a later date.

Corning Police Sgt. Kenzie Spaulding told The Leader that Heverly will face additional charges. Heverly was recently arrested in Chemung County Court Aug. 22, for unpaid restitution.
