“Don’t get the shakes – it’s just a rattlesnake”: Chemung River Friends and DEC host presentation

Local News

Does the thought of a rattlesnake living in your area scare you? Environmental experts are looking to replace that fear with respect and understanding.

Chemung River Friends and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) are teaming up to present “Don’t Get the Shakes. It’s Just a Rattlesnake!” on Monday, May 20.

Guests will learn how and why we are fortunate to have timber rattlesnake dens in our area, as well as discover the truth about these endangered creatures from Chemung River Friends Executive Director Jim Pfiffer and NYS DEC Wildlife Technician, Madeline Wlasniekwski.

The presentation is set to be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Finger Lakes House on W. Water St.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door. All guests get a free entry into the Finger Lakes House kayak package drawing.
