Elmira man sentenced for Grove St. shootout

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – Tarell Calafell has been sentenced to 15 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision after a shootout on Grove Street last year.

Calafell was found guilty for Attempted Assault in the First Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree.

Calafell has three prior felony convictions stemming from drug dealing and possession.

Elmira Police said Saad Wyche and Calafell, were shooting at each other on the 100-block on Grove Street last July.
