Elmira Mother Sentenced for Involvement in Child Sexual Assault Case

An Elmira mother is facing one to three years in prison for not helping her toddler son after he was sexually assaulted.

32-year-old Tanya Kling of Elmira admitted to attempted assault in the case involving her 4-year-old son.

Authorities say it was back in April when the boy’s own aunt, Tonya Lee Krout of Lockhaven Pennsylvania, sexually abused her nephew in a Newburgh Motel. 18 News first reported on this case in early May.

The child’s own mother and another man, Dennis Terwilliger of Elmira, plead guilty to hiding the abuse from police when questioned. Terwilliger got one and a half to three years in prison for the crime.

A fourth person involved, 37-year-old Deboara Terwilliger also of Elmira, was also charged in the case.
