ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – A child’s bicycle was stolen in broad daylight in Elmira, and it was all caught on camera.

An African-American man walked onto the porch of a home on the 700 block of Linden Pl. shortly after noon on June 26. He rides off on the bike with two other people who were waiting on the street.

The homeowner has shared this video and the Elmira Police are asking that if anyone recognizes the man involved, to give them a call at (607) 737-5626 or leave a message on the anonymous tip line at (607) 271-HALT.

Our 18 News reporter Nate Niles met up with the owner of Kingbury’s Cyclery, a local bicycle shop in downtown Elmira.

We talked to them about the importance of locking up your bike and the best way to do so.
