On Wednesday evening the Economic Opportunity Program (EOP) of Elmira celebrated the opening of their new Sensory Room. This room is one of a kind as it’s the only one in the Southern Tier region.
This room is a space for community members to play, learn, and grow. Families are welcome to come and enjoy the room along with helping teach and encourage their children.
The new EOP Family Support Services Sensory Room is equipped with everything needed to for individuals to experience a sense of calm and safety.
Amanda Wylie, manager of health services, says “adults, children, anyone can come in and use this space to self regulate, calm and sort of bring themselves back to center.”
“It is filled with things that children can come and relax and meditate, self regulate, and exercise and bring calm to their lives,” Wylie says.
In order to book a time you can contact EOP at (607)-734-6174.
