Catch an exclusive look inside Mark Twain’s summer home, Quarry Farm located at 131 Crane Rd, Elmira, NY.
According to Quarry Farm Caretaker Steve Webb there are many nice spots in the house.
“The parlor of the house is most like the way it was in Twains day,” said Webb. “The gold carpets, the desk is the original desk.”
“A lot of the books in this library were originally here in the library,” said Webb. “When he wasn’t writing he was always reading.”
Many may not know, the farm has an amazing view of Elmira from it’s back porch.
“They would turn this into another room during the summer time,” said Webb. “It’s kind of fun to think about the first readings like Huckleberry Finn.”
And Webb, who has been the caretaker for five years, said there is a great deal of history from the famed porch.
“Obviously it’s beautiful, I love the view. Back then you could see miles of the Chemung River,” said Webb.
Although the estate is private, there is a lecture series in Spring and Fall to walk the grounds to learn more about Twain.
