An extremely rare bird has been spotted by Nessmuk Lake, in Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Trained spotters say that the discovery is the first of its kind in the state.
The bird is a white wing tern, and hails from Eurasia.
Along with being the first ever reported sighting in Pennsylvania, it’s the first reported sighting of the bird in North America this year.
The bird was discovered on Thursday by Rich Hanlon.
A team from Cornell University is going to the area on Friday to confirm the sighting.
