ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM)- The final Alive After Five event took place at Riverfront Park Friday evening, in Elmira. Members of the community enjoyed an evening of music and dancing, associated with some pretty nice weather.
“It brings alot to the community, everybodys giving back. Alot of fun and it makes the summer go probably to fast, but fun,” said John Lewis, an Elmira resident.
For the majority of the events this summer the weather cooperated, but even on days when the sky was grey and it rained that didn’t stop the community from coming out and having a good time!
“This summer has been amazing, the support that we have received not only from our sponsors but from the community,” said Jennifer Herrick, Executive Director of the Elmira Downtown Development. “Each and every one you are witnessing faces that you haven’t seen so it’s been a great time in downtown Elmira.”
If you were unable to attend any of the events this summer be on the lookout. The downtown development plans on releasing the 2020 schedule in January, with more events than this year.
“We are going to look at growing it even more next year come up with some new ideas, expand it,” said Dan Mandell, Mayor of Elmira. “To see all these people in our downtown it’s so exciting right now, it’s a great time it really is.”
