First-ever outdoors event hopes to promote nature and its resources with two-day event

The Chemung River Friends and Steuben County Conference and Visitors Bureau will host the first-ever Finger Lakes Trail Days.

The two-day event at the Steuben County Fairgrounds will give visitors a chance to explore the Chemung River and portions of the Finger Lakes Trail.

It is a new event the organizers said is to promote the natural resources and tourist attractions that are often overlooked. Kevin Costello, the president of the Steuben County Conference and Visitors Bureau, said the idea was sparked on a hike.

“So the idea of hosting the event came about on that hike in Steuben County and the Bath Fairgrounds are right there,” Costello explained, “where the Finger Lakes trail connects through the Town of Bath and thought, what a perfect venue for it.”

There will be several activities such as zip-lining and rock wall climbing. Music will also be performed by Grammy-award winning artists.

The event is from Friday, July 26 to Saturday, July 27 with different activities and performances on each day. Click here for more information on the two-day event and to purchase tickets.
