Five Rivers Council Hosted Their Annual University of Scouting Event

Local News

Local scouts got some training Saturday thanks to a group of volunteers.

Five Rivers Council hosted their annual University of Scouting event at Corning Middle School in Painted Post.

Scouts from all ages went through different classes learning how to put together a first aid kit, the basics of CPR, and dealing with everything from outdoor cooking to boater safety courses.

“We hope they will certainly get some wonderful skills to be able to go back and share to improve their unit,” said Gary Decker, Scout Executive and C.E.O. of Five Rivers Council. “More importantly, so they can rekindle their passion for scouting and get excited about meeting new people and going back in serving more kids.”

All scouts got a patch for attending the training.

Five Rivers trained over 150 local boy scouts Saturday.

The scouting program runs throughout the year.  For more information, click here.
