9:45 PM FRIDAY UPDATE: The National Weather Service in Binghamton cancels Flash Flood Watch


The following alerts have been issued by the National Weather Service in Binghamton:

The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a

  • Flash Flood Watch for portions of central New York and
    northeast Pennsylvania, including the following areas, in
    central New York, Chemung, Schuyler, Seneca, Southern Cayuga,
    Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, and Yates. In northeast
    Pennsylvania, Bradford.
  • Until midnight EDT tonight

Periods of showers and thunderstorms this evening will move through the Finger Lakes region southeast into Bradford county through the evening. Localized rainfall of 2-4 inches is expected with the showers and thunderstorms potentially leading to flash flooding.


A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
