FRIDAY SUNSET: 5:04 PM

Winter Storm Warning in effect 12 PM Saturday through 4 PM Sunday for the entire Twin Tiers.

Snow lingers for Friday morning with wake up temperatures in the 20s. The chance for on and off flurries lingers throughout the day as a cold front slides in from the northwest. Additional snowfall amounts will range between a dusting- .50″ through this evening. High temperatures top out in the mid-30s with winds staying light, out of the west in the afternoon, anywhere from 5-10 mph.

The chance for light snow continues tonight and temperatures drop to the mid-teens. Winds will be light, out of the northwest, anywhere from 5-10 mph.

The strong winter storm strengthens over the southern plains and tracks into the region Saturday afternoon into Sunday. The exact track of this storm is still a bit uncertain but the farther north this system moves means a wintry mix will also become possible Saturday night into Sunday morning for areas in the Northern Tier. The GFS and NAM models show the freezing line staying farther south in central Pa. The GFS shows around 12-14″ of total snowfall accumulation for most of the Twin Tiers. Snowfall rates of 1-2″ per hour will make for dangerous driving conditions Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon. The heaviest snowfall will be Saturday night.

Winds speed up as this storm exits the region. Gusty winds combined with a blast of arctic air make for dangerously cold wind chills Sunday night and for Monday. Wind chill values will range between 15-35 below zero. Highs Saturday in the 20s, Sunday in the teens, and Monday will only reach to near 10 degrees. Overnight lows Sunday and Monday dropping below zero.
