A frontal system moving into the region will be the main weather-maker for the weekend. Southerly winds 5-15 mph ushering in the warmth and the moisture for Satuday. A warm front stalls over the western part of the region with enough instability present to give us the potential for strong to severe thunderstorm development. Models showing thunderstorms working into Steuben and Tioga counties between 4/5 pm, working east through the evening. The biggest threat for severe weather being gusty winds. Warm and humid Saturday with highs into the mid to upper 70s. Lows Saturday night near 60 degrees and a chance for showers and thunderstorms lingers.
Chance for showers and thunderstorms continues Sunday as a cold front passes the region. Nothing strong to severe expected, though. Highs Sunday near 80 degrees, then dropping to near 50 for overnight lows. High pressure leads to a dry Memorial Day with some sunshine. Highs Monday into the 70s. Chance for showers and thunderstorms returns by Tuesday.
