AVERAGE HIGH FOR MAY 27TH: 73°

AVERAGE LOW FOR MAY 27TH: 46°

MONDAY SUNRISE: 5:37 AM

MONDAY SUNSET: 8:32 PM

Plenty of sunshine with us for Memorial Day. Increasing cloud cover for Monday night, though, as our next weather-maker approaches. Clouds trapping in some heat late with temperatures only cooling into the low to mid 50s for overnight lows.

A warm front moving into the region leads to showers for Tuesday morning with cloudy skies. How much sunshine we see into the afternoon will play a role in thunderstorm development by late day. Storm Prediction Center keeps most of the Twin Tiers in a Slight Risk for strong to severe thunderstorm development, while areas to our south (including far southern portions of the Northern Tier) are in an Enhanced Risk. Biggest threats for severe weather include strong gusty winds, hail, and heavy rainfall. Best timing for thunderstorms are in the afternoon to evening hours. Highs for Tuesday into the mid to upper 70s. Chance for showers and thunderstorms lingers Tuesday night and lows near 50 degrees.

Chance for showers and thunderstorms continues for Wednesday and Thursday, but some dry time is also expected. Highs both days near 70 degrees. High pressure builds in for Friday helping to dry us out and give us some sunshine to end the workweek. Highs Friday into the 70s. Chance for showers and thunderstorms returns for the weekend.
