Former Notre Dame High School female cross-country coach Cory McCarty, 23, has been sentenced to six months in jail and five years of probation for sending pornographic images to a member of the cross-country team, according to officials at the Chemung County Courthouse.
McCarty will also have to register as a sex offender, and his level will be assigned in August.
In Nov. 2018, the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office told 18 News that McCarty sent nude images to a 16-year-old female over a four-month period.
Notre Dame High School principal Deborah Franklin confirmed to 18 News in November that McCarty was a coach for the Notre Dame High School female cross-country team, and had sent his resignation to her and the school’s athletic director.
Franklin says she received a tip and contacted the Chemung County Sheriff.
