Gov. Cuomo voices concern with GOP tax reform bill

Local News

On Thursday, Governor Andrew Cuomo addressed the GOP tax reform plan and voiced his concerns with the increase in taxes that New York residents would see.

The Governor said the plan has a “diabolical dimension to it,” that grants the elimination of the deductibility of the state and local taxes throughout New York.

“In a state like New York, you can not deduct your income tax and your property tax before you pay the federal tax,” Gov. Cuomo (D-NY) said. “So, it is a tax on your taxes. This form a party that said they were going to cut taxes. It’s the first double-taxation that we can come up with.”

The Governor went on to say that the tax reform would impact 12 particular states the hardest. Many of those states are considered “blue states.”
