Friday afternoon New York Governor Andrew Cuomo held a storm briefing relating to the recent devastating storms we have experienced earlier this week.

Now, according to Governor Cuomo the Southern Tier is under a state of emergency until August 21st, that includes Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben counties.

“As everyone is aware, since the beginning of the week New York has had a series of storms that have caused widespread devastation of flash flooding, primarily across the Southern Tier and the Finger Lakes.” Cuomo said, “We believe the worst is over, but the ground is saturated, damage has been done.”

According to Governor Cuomo they currently have 106 requests from local governments for assistance throughout the state. They also have a deployment of 200 National Guard, which are ready to help local governments with storm cleanup.
