Harrisburg school district has been taken over by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

The Harrisburg School District is being taken over by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. 

A judge has placed the district into receivership and the district has agreed.

Pennsylvania resumes all powers of the school board except dealing with taxes. 

Harrisburg Schools have been in financial recovery since December 2012.
