Students at Horseheads Intermediate School participated in the first annual Innovator Awards Friday, June 7, at 9 a.m. at the Horseheads High School auditorium.
At the beginning of the school year, students were challenged to come up with some sort of media to showcase their school. They’ve had the year to work on a three-minute video in one of five categories: make a difference, special effects, talent showcase, trick shots, and an open category.
The ceremony will be like the Academy Awards, complete with red carpet, nominations, and trophies.
“One day we were just eating dinner and we were thinking about what we should do for this idea, and Lucy’s parents helped us come up with the idea of making fake heads of our teachers and dancing around with them,” said Sixth Grader Kaylyn Cook. “We love the show ‘friends’ so that was the theme,” added Cook.
The ceremony was said to be like the academy awards for the students, complete with red carpet, nominations, and trophies.
