Early this morning we visited the Rio Vista Veterinary Hospital in Painted Post. Unfortunately it wasn’t on the best of terms. 18 News was there to follow up on a kitten that the hospital believed to have been thrown from a car.
His name is Sammy the kitten. He was found in the middle of the road by a good samairtain early Monday afternoon.
Thankfully after he was checked out they found out that Sammy had multiple fractures in his hind legs but otherwise seems to be in decent health and even better spirits.
However little Sammy only weighs one pound so the people that are nursing him back to health are making sure to take good care of him.
“Our veterinarians here have certainly done a physical on him, and we have done x rays so far and so we have those x rays out to boarded specialist who will determine what is the best plan for him.” Says Terri Terwilliger a veterinarian at the Rio Vista Veterinarian Hospital.
Sammy has been at the hospital since Monday and as of right now even though he’s in good health the veterinarians aren’t 100% sure if little Sammy will require surgery in the future.
“You know we want to be able to find him a home, and we have to get him well before we can do that.” adds Tina Wright.
If you are interested in donating to Sammy’s care you are welcome to call the Rio Vista veterinary hospital.
UPDATE 4:40 PM.
Even though Sammy the kitten is currently staying at the Rio Vista Veterinary Hospital, he is a Pawz and Purrz rescue (PPAR).
Once he’s back to full health and is OK’d to leave the hospital by the veterinarians he will be in foster care with Pawz and Purrrz.
