LimeBike. It’s taking the country by storm.
It has already been introduced in Watkins Glen, Montour Falls and Ithaca.
Now, Elmira will be the next city to boast the smart, green bike. With payments as low as $1, the LimeBike is made for everyone.
“There’s Lime Access for people who meet the poverty standard. For $5, they get 100 rides per month which is amazing”, said Elmira councilman Brent Stermer.
What makes these bikes so great is that they can be accessed 24/7, and return is hassle free. It’s dock-free which means there’s no centralized pick-up or drop-off location.
“LimeBike just celebrated their 10 millionth ride, and they’re just so fun and they’re just a great way to get around. You can pick up the bike, ride it around, and leave it when you’re done with it.” says Stermer.
70 pedal assist bikes, which are battery operated, and 50 to 60 standard pedal bikes, will be installed shortly. The number of bikes will eventually be adjusted to fit the needs of the city.
This takes “going green” to another level. Saving the environment and your pockets.
