A 38-year-old man has pleaded guilty to striking a woman with his pickup truck and leaving her to die along an upstate New York road.

Steven Grundel of Mount Hope pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident without reporting it on Tuesday in Orange County Court. He admitted hitting 34-year-old Kiera Babcock on State Street in Otisville around 11:15 p.m. on March 30. Her body was found the next morning.

Grundel was arrested about two weeks later after state police received a phone tip.

Prosecutors say they’ll recommend a sentence of one to three years in prison. Sentencing is set for Aug. 27.
