We are now entering day two of the bench trial for the 19 year-old Elmira man charged with vehicular manslaughter for his role in the motorcycle crash in Horseheads last July that killed Matthew and Harolyn Mateson. It was an emotional 7 hours in court as several witnesses testified, recalling vivid details from the accident. The prosecution said it was Caden Charnetski’s decision to get behind the wheel after smoking marijuana, that cost the Matesons their lives. The trial is set to resume this morning at 9 a.m.

Actress Mira Sorvino joined Governor Cuomo on Wedesday in calling for changes to the state’s current sexual harrasment statute. Cuomo announced he wants to get rid of the five-year sexual harrasment statute of limitations for second and third-degree rape. But time is running out for Cuomo to make that change, as the legislative session ends next week.

Disturbing new details have been revealed in the case against the Tioga County man accused of killing his 8 month-old daughter, Ruby. Court documents show that 25 year-old Cody Franciscovich allegedly raped Ruby before killing her in a cemetery. Franciscovich pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and is due back in court on Monday. He is currently in the Tioga County Jail.

A House panel advanced a bill to extend funding for 9/11 first responders and survivors on Wednesday, a day after comedian Jon Stewart slammed lawmakers for failing to show up to a hearing for the bill. The fund is scheduled to expire in 2020, this bill would extend the funding until 2090. It now heads to the House floor.
