The Corning city council 2020 budget is complete. The budget will remain under the state tax cap, but residents will see a one-and-a-half-percent hike in their property taxes. The budget also includes an additional $100,000 for street paving and keeps all services in place.

Just earlier this year, Governor Cuomo wanted to make it his mission to leagalize recreational marijuana, but now he’s changing his tune saying he doesn’t think it’s feasible at this point in the session. Cuomo says he doesn’t believe there is sufficient support to pass the measure in the state senate. Lawmakers insist they’re not giving up on passing legalization before they adjourn June 19. 

A guilty verdict has been handed down to the woman connected to a horse abuse case out of Pine City. A jury found Cherie Middaugh guilty on all 21 counts of animal abuse on Monday. Cherie had 26 horses on her property being held in inhumane conditions. Sentencing is set for a later date.
