Local News

Constant rain showers are making it difficult for businesses of all kinds across upstate New York. Farmers in particular have had it especially tough, having to push back planting season every day that it rains. They’re hoping mother nature breaks up the clouds soon.

Farms aren’t the only ones suffering. Wineries usually like to be finished harvesting by Memorial Day and the effect on the overall crop may start to be felt by then.

Much of the graffiti that covered the underpasses on Elmira’s Southside for years, has now disappeared. Local volunteers are cleaning the “eye sores” off of Elmira’s infrastructure. The owners of the underpass, Norfolk Southern, have yet to comment.

The state of New York is reminding you to buckle up. AAA and the Medical Society of the State of New York are pushing for passage of a new law requiring all passengers to wear seat belts when riding in the back seat. The groups held a news conference May 13, at the state capitol ahead of a possible vote later this week in the senate.
