The trial for the 19 year-old Elmira man accused of causing the deadly motorcycle crash in Horseheads last July that killed Matthew and Harolyn Mateson is set to get underway in Chemung County Court today. Caden Charnetski has pleaded not guilty to his charges, which include vehicular manslaughter. 
Police say blood test results indicated Charnetski was under the influence of marijuana at the time of the crash.

Investigators continue to uncover new details regarding Monday evening’s helicopter crash landing in New York city. The pilot has been identified as Tim McCormack; he has served in the East Clinton Volunteer Fire Department for the past 25 years.The National Transportation Safety Board is searching for radio transmissions from the final minutes of the flight, and is also looking into how the bad weather may have played a part in the crash.

All 13 code violations at First Arena, outlined by County Executive Chris Moss, have been fixed.
Elmira Enforcers owner Robbie Nichols called the arena the safest building in the city of Elmira.
There’s no word yet on whether he’ll be reimbursed by the Industrial Development Agency for the renovations. 

Elmira Police are investigation two strong-armed robberies, both of which took place in broad daylight on Tuesday. The first occurred near Parker Dr. and Harper St.; a second victim was found in the parking lot of the Burger King on Lake St. As of now it’s unclear if police have apprehended these men, as our 18 News photographer saw people being placed in a police car near the location of the robbery.
