New York State Police in Painted Post are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash on I-86 in Corning.

The accident occurred Sunday night around 8:00 p.m. between Exits 45 and 46 on the westbound side.

State Police would not confirm the identity of the victim.

Sunday night’s crash comes days after seven people were killed in New Hampshire during a motorcycle ride.

Jeremy Taylor, a correctional officer in Elmira and a former member of the Elmira Heights Fire Department, was killed in June while riding a motorcycle in Tioga County, New York.

Nearly 5,200 motorcyclists were killed while riding in 2017, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Board.
