Move It Monday: How to determine when you should lift heavier

18 News Today co-anchor Elizabeth Worthington and New York Sport & Fitness trainer Heather Maio checked back in with Nicole Bailey this week. We introduced you to Nicole last month, as she embarked on a new fitness journey ahead of her wedding in October. Nicole also wants to have a baby after she gets married, and wants to be as healthy as she can be to carry her child.

Nicole is well on her way to accomplishing her fitness goals, steadily losing fat and gaining muscle. One of the biggest changes she’s made to her workout regimen is lifting heavier weights during strength training. 

In this week’s episode, Heather explains how to determine when you’re ready to increase weight, and encourages everyone to at least give it a try. 

“If you’re not failing, you’re not trying,” Heather says.
