The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office is holding a “Drug Take Back” program in Elmira in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration.

People can take their unused or expired prescription drugs to the Southport Volunteer Fire Department and West Elmira Fire Department in Elmira for proper disposal on Saturday, October 27, from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

All medications, ointments, and sprays will be accepted, but needles will not be taken.

Residents are asked to keep the medication in their original containers and leave the name of the medication uncovered. The resident’s name on the prescription can be blacked out if desired.
