Original Southern Plates, a southern style cuisine diner has just touched down in Elmira. It’s a family owned restaurant serving soul food just like grandma used to make but with a modern day twist.
This new contemporary restaurant has taken up residence in Elmira’s Southside Downtown District at 122 south main street and is now open for business.
As a visitor, you get an opportunity to taste some amazing dishes, while welcoming owners Lakeysha, Chris and their family to the neighborhood.
The restaurant features a rustic, industrial, modern look with exposed brick walls, a full bar boosting cocktails and wines and most of all, a delicious menu of amazing dishes.
The eatery serves up Fried Chicken w/ Red Velvet waffles, Hush Puppies, Shrimp & Grits and more. In addition, the restaurant seats 49 individuals who will love this new addition to the downtown district.
What does the new owner have to say on the reasons for opening in downtown Elmira? “We chose downtown because we saw that it was being revitalized and we wanted to be a part of the change.” said, Lakeysha Rodney. “The area is lacking diversity and we are looking forward to bringing some awesome new food to excite everyone’s palate.”
Co-owner Chris Kamah adds, “We chose soul food because its a comfort food. It’s filling, it’s happy and at the end of it, you’re guaranteed to leave with a smile.”
