The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and State Health Department will reveal the latest findings in its investigation over contaminants under Elmira High School.
The agencies have been investigating since last year when the contaminants were brought the public’s and state’s attention.
The school used to be the site of the former Sperry Remington company. The company used chemicals and metals to make electrical and computer parts decades ago. Those metals and chemicals were found to have seeped into the ground.
The agencies will present the latest information on Wednesday, June 19 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. inside the Elmira High School cafeteria. Details on the planned clean-up will also be discussed.
