UPDATE: (4:00 p.m.) Newly appointed County Attorney Matthew Rosno was found dead in the fields on Lattabrook Rd. in Horseheads.
“There is nothing that indicates that this was anything other than a tragic accident right now,” Chemung County Undersheriff, William A. Schrom, said.
Rosno was last seen in the Village of Horseheads and was reported missing between late Friday, Dec. 21. and early Saturday, Dec. 22. A phone ping led police to the area he was found, according to Schrom.
“The difference in this case is Mr. Rosno is a County Attorney and this is extremely out of character, which prompted more urgency,” Schrom said.
At this time it is still unknown why Rosno was in the area and what caused his death.
The criminal investigation team will conduct their investigation in conjunction with the coroner office, and make a determination if there were any contributing factors.
