For decades fans and drivers have come to Watkins Glen International from all corners of the world.
Friday marked opening weekend and now for the first time the track is fully re-paved. A ribbon cutting ceremony marked the occasion.
“I always show old pictures at my team meetings of the ’40s, ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s, of how racing developed and some of those old iconic pictures,” said Michael Printup, President of W.G.I. “This is going to be on of them someday.”
With racing season officially upon us, everyone has a reason to celebrate.
“I just love racing and I think Watkins Glen is such a big part of the history of racing in America,” said former racer Derek Bell.
“This little small town kicks some butt and we’re pretty good at it,” said Printup.
